4:58 Speaker 1: military job, what your title is and essentially what you

5:04 Speaker 1: were doing and why you were at Camp Wilson.

5:08 Speaker 2: Yeah. So I joined the Marine Corps in twenty eighteen.

5:13 Speaker 2: I actually went to twenty nine Palms twice or Camp

5:16 Speaker 2: Wilson twice, So the first time was twenty nineteen, and

5:21 Speaker 2: I guess you could call it a home base where

5:23 Speaker 2: I was stationed. I was stationed on Campbell Rezuo, North Carolina,

5:27 Speaker 2: and to go to the twenty nine Palms. Infantry units

5:29 Speaker 2: go there before they deploy. It's kind of part of

5:32 Speaker 2: your work up. You go there for about a month

5:34 Speaker 2: to a month and a half that time, we were

5:36 Speaker 2: there for a month, and it's basically a big training exercise.

5:41 Speaker 2: You have people from the East coast, you have people

5:43 Speaker 2: from the West Coast, from all sorts of different types

5:45 Speaker 2: of jobs. Personally, I was a mortarman, so if you

5:49 Speaker 2: don't know what that is, we shoot bombs out of tubes,

5:52 Speaker 2: to include illumination rounds, which I guess we'll get into

5:55 Speaker 2: a little bit later. Yes, that's pretty much it. I

5:58 Speaker 2: got out in twenty twenty two and just been living

6:01 Speaker 2: life ever since.

6:02 Speaker 1: Okay, so you remember the night in question? Yes? Can

6:08 Speaker 1: you give me the date of that? What that was?

6:12 Speaker 2: I believe it was April twentieth, in twenty twenty one.

6:20 Speaker 2: I remember it. And we were not smoking that day.

6:25 Speaker 1: So, yeah, you're in the Marine Corps, so you're you're

6:38 Speaker 2: I know there was not. They have a pretty tight

6:44 Speaker 1: And why would someone be at Camp Wilson if I

6:47 Speaker 1: was I was a morteman on four twenty twenty twenty one,

6:52 Speaker 1: tell me why I was at Camp Wilson.

6:56 Speaker 2: Yeah, so it offers Camp Wilson as a desert in

6:59 Speaker 2: the hobby desert, so it offers a little bit more

7:02 Speaker 2: of a realistic and current modern battlefield training for you know,

7:07 Speaker 2: to go to the Middle East usually, so as a mortarman,

7:12 Speaker 2: I was there to support the infantry guys. So if

7:17 Speaker 2: you're a mortarman, you would be shooting arounds and support

7:20 Speaker 2: of the guys that are on the ground.

7:23 Speaker 1: Oh really, so you uh you? Is it safe to

7:28 Speaker 1: say that you have worked with flares immensely?

7:34 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean in and out of the field

7:36 Speaker 2: week after week. And we always do night shoots when

7:39 Speaker 2: we're in the field. So we're usually in the field

7:41 Speaker 2: about a week at a time, and then every night

7:43 Speaker 2: we would shoot illumination rounds, which I think a lot

7:46 Speaker 2: of people are confusing those lights with illumination rounds or flares.

7:51 Speaker 2: So we shot those pretty regularly, so I'm very familiar

7:53 Speaker 2: with their patterns and flight times and whatever else. So

8:00 Speaker 2: pretty familiar with this type of stuff.

8:02 Speaker 1: Right, So let's not waste too much time. I want

8:07 Speaker 1: to get right into the heart and soul. So can

8:10 Speaker 1: you talk to me about the moment you spotted this

8:16 Speaker 1: formation of lights and you did you see it appear?

8:21 Speaker 1: How long was the duration of your experience with this?

8:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, so this happened at nighttime. We were all done

8:30 Speaker 2: for the day. I didn't personally see them appear, but

8:34 Speaker 2: there was a guy that was outside. The little buildings

8:38 Speaker 2: that we lived in were called hooches, so we were

8:40 Speaker 2: all inside the hooch laying down getting ready for bed.

8:43 Speaker 2: One of the guys outside that was on the phone.

8:46 Speaker 2: He came in and said, hey, guys, come check this out.

8:49 Speaker 2: What is this? So I walked out there and I

8:52 Speaker 2: seen a triangle of red lights and my first thought was, well,

8:57 Speaker 2: those are illumination rounds. But then a couple of minutes

9:01 Speaker 2: later I broke out the camera and could see the

9:04 Speaker 2: black shape underneath. So yes, I was responsible for a

9:07 Speaker 2: few of the photos and videos.

9:09 Speaker 1: Someone alerts you to the craft being there. One of

9:12 Speaker 1: the things that I think is contested a lot, And

9:18 Speaker 1: before I get to my formal questioning, I kind of

9:21 Speaker 1: just want to loosely ask this because when you were

9:25 Speaker 1: alerted to this and you came outside your hoot, how

9:31 Speaker 1: many other people were confused? How often is it that

9:38 Speaker 1: you are not alerted to a base wide training exercise,

9:43 Speaker 1: like like like what this was going to be? But

9:47 Speaker 1: even if it was just you know what you thought

9:50 Speaker 1: at first illumine arounds, why wouldn't you have known about

9:54 Speaker 1: that previously?

9:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, So there were probably fifty plus people in the

10:02 Speaker 2: same area that I was in, maybe more. Pretty much

10:05 Speaker 2: all of them were amazed and confused, which is strange

10:09 Speaker 2: because the area that I was staying in was comprised

10:12 Speaker 2: of different moss or jobs. So everyone you know, you

10:16 Speaker 2: had mortarman, artillery, regular infantry guys, cooks, you know, you

10:22 Speaker 2: name it. They were all there in that one spot.

10:23 Speaker 2: But we were all confused.

10:25 Speaker 1: So this was a spectrum of different job titles, a

10:33 Speaker 1: bunch of people in different skill sets, all confused at

10:39 Speaker 1: what the hell was happening. Now again, I want to reiterate,

10:43 Speaker 1: because you said in your area there was at least fifty,

10:47 Speaker 1: so I think the number probably is higher. But let's

10:52 Speaker 1: just start here. One of the questions that I was

10:57 Speaker 1: so surprised that that wasn't asked is how far away

11:02 Speaker 1: was the formation of lights? Roughly if you had to estimate,

11:06 Speaker 1: you know, were they over the mountains or on the

11:09 Speaker 1: flats or where were these lights when you first spotted them?

11:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, so they appeared to me as if they were

11:16 Speaker 2: right above those mountains in the video, which I would

11:20 Speaker 2: guess is maybe just shot of a mile from where

11:23 Speaker 2: I was standing, So maybe three quarters of a mile

11:26 Speaker 2: maybe a little bit more.

11:28 Speaker 1: So that's how far they were away from you. Okay, Now,

11:32 Speaker 1: can you roughly tell me what the altitude would be

11:36 Speaker 1: would have been on something like this guesstimate? I know

11:41 Speaker 1: it's been a while. I wish it was asked within

11:44 Speaker 1: twenty four hours, but if you can try to guestimate

11:48 Speaker 1: the altitude of these lights, it would immensely help.

11:54 Speaker 2: Yeah. I'll try the best I can. I'm not very

11:56 Speaker 2: good at guessing altitude, especially from how long ago that's been,

12:00 Speaker 2: but I would say probably three or four thousand feet

12:03 Speaker 2: and that's just a very very rough estimate.

12:06 Speaker 1: So and put your eyes because we often, you know,

12:11 Speaker 1: I think all of us have done this right. We've

12:14 Speaker 1: pointed our smartphones at the moon and all you see

12:18 Speaker 1: is a glowing white dot right, no detail. And by

12:23 Speaker 1: the way, that Samsung phone you're using is using AI

12:27 Speaker 1: to enhance those photos. So don't tell me you're actually

12:30 Speaker 1: for taking photos of the moon. I don't want to

12:32 Speaker 1: hear it. But I mean there are lenses that will

12:35 Speaker 1: get great you know, moon photos, but they're on actual cameras,

12:41 Speaker 1: but smartphones, and that's what you're using to film this. Correct,

12:46 Speaker 1: a smartphone.

12:47 Speaker 2: It was an iPhone I believe in eleven.

12:50 Speaker 1: So an iPhone eleven, even an iPhone fifteen you point

12:55 Speaker 1: it at the sky. I mean, these things are made

12:58 Speaker 1: for selfies and for pictures and video.

13:03 Speaker 1: Now they have the cinematic mode. But this is again,

13:06 Speaker 1: this is for on the ground kind of stuff. It's

13:09 Speaker 1: not for stuff that's in the sky thousands of feed

13:14 Speaker 1: up and thousands of feet away. That's that's that's not

13:19 Speaker 1: what these cameras are built for. So we all know

13:22 Speaker 1: that with our eyes we were seeing a lot more

13:27 Speaker 1: than what the camera is showing us in the videos

13:30 Speaker 1: that that were shown and given to weaponized which will

13:37 Speaker 1: definitely play some of them at least two of them,

13:42 Speaker 1: because I would like to walk through them with you.

13:45 Speaker 1: But what were you seeing? Were you seeing any definition

13:50 Speaker 1: to this?

13:53 Speaker 2: So I personally wasn't. But that's just because I wear

13:55 Speaker 2: contacts and i'd taken them out to go to bed.

13:58 Speaker 2: But I remember someone who was standing beside me said

14:01 Speaker 2: you can see a body. And then I didn't see

14:04 Speaker 2: the body until I reviewed the picture that I took,

14:07 Speaker 2: which is the one that's blasted all over the internet.

14:10 Speaker 2: And then I've seen the black shape underneath.

14:12 Speaker 1: Oh I don't I haven't heard that the body.

14:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's actually in one of the videos that were

14:17 Speaker 2: published on the Weaponize podcast. You can hear the I

14:20 Speaker 2: believe you can hear that on there.

14:21 Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so you actually can't see.

14:23 Speaker 2: The body in a video. You can only see it

14:26 Speaker 2: through the still photos.

14:28 Speaker 1: Oh okay, so that would be through this.

14:31 Speaker 2: But in a video, someone didn't mention that you could

14:33 Speaker 2: see a body. Hear that in the background.

14:36 Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't have to. Okay, that's interesting. So all right,

14:39 Speaker 1: I wanna I want to pull up at least one

14:43 Speaker 1: or two of these videos, uh, just to watch the

14:47 Speaker 1: the uh, the the actual craft as it passes and

14:53 Speaker 1: hear some of the people in the background. So I

14:59 Speaker 1: bring this one up. Purpose there's more lights around it.

15:15 Speaker 1: Did you see that other light by the way above

15:18 Speaker 1: or below? It was above it, So me and Arthur

15:22 Speaker 1: noticed it last time we watched the video. But you

15:26 Speaker 1: see a dot of light appear above the craft in

15:33 Speaker 1: reference of the frame. It happened so quick, so I

15:37 Speaker 1: did see.

15:37 Speaker 2: I actually I think there's a video, one of those videos.

15:41 Speaker 2: I could see it through my phone and I mentioned it,

15:46 Speaker 2: and you mentioned it. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that one

15:49 Speaker 2: of those videos. Yeah, right there, I said, there's more

15:52 Speaker 2: lights around it.

15:53 Speaker 1: Yeah, there's more lights around it. Oh yeah, that you

15:56 Speaker 1: did say, see right there, right there up top. I'm

15:59 Speaker 1: an jump a little. I'm just gonna jump ahead. I

16:02 Speaker 1: want to keep going. Could could this have been flares?

16:11 Speaker 1: In your expert opinion, any type of known flare, whether

16:18 Speaker 1: you know whether shot or launched from the sky.

16:24 Speaker 2: So to me, I did think so at first, because

16:27 Speaker 2: of the color. And usually when you think of a flair,

16:29 Speaker 2: you think of red. But usually they fall a lot

16:35 Speaker 2: faster than that, and then you can see a smoke

16:38 Speaker 2: trail behind them. But these whatever, these lights were they

16:42 Speaker 2: were not falling, so.

16:44 Speaker 1: They were maintaining their altitude. And if in your expert opinion,

16:49 Speaker 1: with flares, it seems that the the longest lasting that

16:55 Speaker 1: can remain their formations is around seven to ten seconds, right, yes,

17:03 Speaker 1: And then they start to have like the smoke trail. Uh,

17:07 Speaker 1: and they kind of they not not saying they look

17:11 Speaker 1: like this, but they they they start to those aren't

17:17 Speaker 1: I mean, those are a bit of an extreme example,

17:21 Speaker 1: but these are flares that you know, look, you know,

17:25 Speaker 1: like they're they were in formation, they're coming down, but

17:28 Speaker 1: you could see clearly see the smoke trail and that

17:32 Speaker 1: these are like headed in a downward angle. We don't

17:36 Speaker 1: see that at any time in any of these videos.

17:42 Speaker 1: Like it it actually looks like it moves further away?

17:48 Speaker 1: Did it? Did it actually did it move? How long

17:51 Speaker 1: did you see it for?

17:55 Speaker 2: So from the time that I walked out there to

17:57 Speaker 2: the time that I put my phone down the walk

17:58 Speaker 2: back inside, I would say I've seen it for about

18:01 Speaker 2: fifteen minutes.

18:02 Speaker 1: But you have to think so again, I just want

18:06 Speaker 1: to ask, in your expert opinion, are there any flares

18:10 Speaker 1: that can do that stay in formation for that for

18:14 Speaker 1: even fifteen minutes most of the videos. There's a big

18:17 Speaker 1: contention that, oh, all the videos are like thirty six seconds.

18:23 Speaker 1: That's it, that's it, that's.

18:24 Speaker 2: It, right. Yeah, so no, not for fifteen minutes plus.

18:30 Speaker 2: You have to think the guy that went and got us,

18:34 Speaker 2: he stood out there and watched them for a few

18:35 Speaker 2: minutes and then came and got us, and then we

18:38 Speaker 2: watched them for a few minutes before we started recording,

18:41 Speaker 2: and then all those videos. The reason why they're so

18:43 Speaker 2: short is because I was taking them and then like

18:45 Speaker 2: uploading them on Snapchat and then taking another video uploading

18:49 Speaker 2: it on Snapchat. And that's kind of what everyone was doing.

18:51 Speaker 2: So there's not really no one really recorded the entire

18:55 Speaker 2: length of the thing.

18:57 Speaker 1: Okay, is there any way that you could somehow get

19:05 Speaker 1: a hold of the metadata for all the timestamps of

19:11 Speaker 1: videos that were taken so that we can if because

19:17 Speaker 1: if we can add up enough time that these maintained

19:21 Speaker 1: as you know, altitude, I think that would that would

19:26 Speaker 1: essentially break the the debate, that would break the contention

19:33 Speaker 1: that these are flares. Yeah.

19:36 Speaker 2: I could do that, and but like I said, you

19:39 Speaker 2: have to add a couple of minutes before because someone

19:42 Speaker 2: seen them watched them for a few minutes and then

19:45 Speaker 2: came and got us. Then we watched them for a

19:46 Speaker 2: few minutes and then started recording. So right, right, whatever

19:50 Speaker 2: that time adds up to be, add a couple of

19:52 Speaker 2: minutes to that.

19:53 Speaker 1: Yeah, and and and so the number we kept hearing

19:57 Speaker 1: in the weaponized testimony was someone There were multiple people

20:02 Speaker 1: who said up to thirty five minutes. Now, I'm going

20:07 Speaker 1: to go and say that there's fluff to that. So

20:12 Speaker 1: I would say twenty five minutes in real time, like

20:17 Speaker 1: real expectation. But if these things, if this thing was

20:21 Speaker 1: there for twenty eight minutes over a military installation and

20:27 Speaker 1: it wasn't dropping, I want to talk to you about

20:32 Speaker 1: the convoy. Now, all of a sudden, you guys are

20:37 Speaker 1: recording this thing, and you guys look like you're in

20:41 Speaker 1: your skibbies in some of the pictures, which is kind

20:43 Speaker 1: of funny because it seems like you were getting ready

20:46 Speaker 1: to go to sleep, So you were not. Again, I

20:50 Speaker 1: want to hammer this home. You were not told of

20:54 Speaker 1: any prior training on especially training that would go right

20:59 Speaker 1: over your head and right around you, all around you, right,

21:06 Speaker 2: No, we were not made aware. Usually you would know because.

21:10 Speaker 1: I say, how uncommon is that?

21:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of, I mean it can happen, but for

21:16 Speaker 2: that specific exercise, we usually knew because I was actually

21:21 Speaker 2: working for the cooks in the kitchen at the time,

21:25 Speaker 2: and we would have to know, so if they came

21:28 Speaker 2: back late, we would prepare them mills or you know,

21:32 Speaker 2: you name it or this whole exercise was for everyone

21:36 Speaker 2: that was staying at Camp Wilson, and everyone was there

21:40 Speaker 2: at Camp Wilson, if that makes sense, right, So if

21:45 Speaker 2: you're going to the field, you're going to support another element,

21:49 Speaker 2: so more than one element would be gone at a time. So,

21:54 Speaker 2: but the base was pretty full at that time that night.

23:36 Speaker 1: have the whole answer, right, yeah, from a base that

23:41 Speaker 1: conducted the exercise years before.

23:47 Speaker 2: Right, they would have to dig up records if they

23:49 Speaker 2: had any.
